New Boat Cover?

Winter is coming and for the majority of us we’ll be tucking our boats up and leaving them outside for the colder UK months.

Over those months the boat is going to take on some harsh conditions whether that be the small bit of winter sunshine to the possibility of heavy rain, snow and certainly some cold frosts. Obviously, the better you look after your boat the longer it’s going to last.

If you’ve got a ripped cover or are using something that doesn’t quite fit now is the time to invest in a new boat cover. A proper fitted boat cover for your type of boat will keep it protected from the elements. It will also help to keep unwanted friends such as nesting animals out.

In the long run it’s not just the winter where the cover will be of benefit, the cover will last for years and will also help to keep your boat protected from the sun in the summer months.

Our boat covers come with a number of features:

  • Soft webbing straps
  • Easy to clip together tie downs
  • Transom tie down at the base of the boat cover
  • No strings or eyelets can be seen
  • Top quality materials used

Dinghy Rope boat covers can be made from heavy duty PVC or a polycotton material. Both over covers and under covers are available for a range of boats. If you don’t see your boat listed please do get in contact and we’ll provide you with a quote.

It’s also important to note that all of our boat covers are made in the UK by experienced people with years of cover building experience.

Advantages of Polycotton

Polycotton is the best material for the job, but as you’ll see it is more expensive.

The cotton fibres in the polycotton boat covers blend and swell when they become wet. This helps to make the fabric more waterproof the wetter it becomes.

As the boat cover dries, the fibres shrink allowing moisture to evaporate away from the boat.

The 50/50 polycotton fabric combines the strength of the polyester with the breathable nature of the cotton.

Key benefits:

  • Less abrasive on varnished wood
  • More breathable to prevent osmosis on FRP
  • Many manufacturers only guarantee hulls with Polycotton covers
