49 different types of dyneema rope in stock at Sailing Chandlery. We stock everything from 2mm through to 10mm and can source dyneema rope of any thickness.
Dyneema® is an UHMwPE (Ultra High Molecular weight Polyethylene) fibre developed by DSM in the Netherlands little over 20 years ago. An ingredient material in many of our ropes, Dyneema® is light weight and renowned as "The World's Strongest FibreTM". So what makes Dyneema® so special?
Dyneema within ropes traditionally comes in two different formats, a 12 strand pure dyneema or as a dyneema core usually covered with a hard wearing polyester jacket. The latter type of rope is great for ropes which are open to lots of wear and cleats as the cover of the rope protects the dyneema from wearing.
Although SK75 used to be the leader in dyneema SK78 has taken over as the standard dyneema issued in most ropes. You will now also see SK99 within high performance ropes which need less stretch and more strength.
Purchase systems are more likely to use a pure 12 strand dyneema as they require more strength and are not cleated, however, the purchase system may contain another piece of rope which goes through the cleat and is pulled for adjustment. This gives you the benefit of the strength and the wear.
12 strand dyneema can also be used for trapeze lines, shrouds and backstays. If you are using dyneema for your shrouds you are going to want a low stretch, high strength option. Some of the dyneema ropes we stock are also heat sealed.
Dyneema core ropes are more popular for control lines and halyards which are constantly adjusted. These ropes can also be tapered down so the hard wearing area of the rope is available for cleats and pulleys but the tapered, thinner dyneema rope, is available to cause less friction around a pulley system. Tapered halyards are popular on high performance dinghies and catamarans.

These are the only covers that will stand the high temperatures, humidity and pollution from the near by power station. We are based in Larnaca Cyprus with very long summers. I will highly recommend them. Plus Sailing Chandlery staff are brilliant.
Bought for my son. He was delighted with it!
I did wonder how I would change the battery on my timer and this kit s the answer !. I race land yachts and do a two minute rolling start which can be rather mad it times so i need that battery !
Fit ok and feels well padded on sole compared to my old worn out boots
Having thoroughly enjoyed a week's training at the Lyme Regis Sea School this phrase is indelibly printed on my sub conscience (the instructors will be pleased to learn) so to have this mug to remind me each morning at breakfast is a treat.
Good quality product worn well first season.
Reliable and delivered on time as stated. Workmanship is very good and the new spinnaker works a treat. Thank you
